Any individual who is unable to meet the prescribed medical standards for air traffic controllers will be ineligible to be issued with an ATC licence by CASA, and hence , will automatically be ineligible for ATC training and/or employment with Airservices Australia. A list of accredited examiners can be found on CASA's website Police Records Check Airservices Australia's recruitment policy requires that any individual being considered for appointment to the organisation undergo a " Police Records Check" which identifies any past convictions , or present or pending criminal charges against that individual. Any offer of training and subsequent employment with Airservices Australia is contingent upon the applicant undergoing a successful check. If you have any doubts as to whether you will be able to satisfy this requirement you can either contact the Australian Federal Police directly or undertake your own Criminal History Check via the application form which is available at http://www.afp.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/3683/crim 01.pdf Should an applicant fail to consent to undergo that check , or if they are found to be "unfavourably recorded", then Airservices Australia will reconsider its offer of training and/or employment. Initial Issue of ATC Licence The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is responsible for issuing new Air Traffic Controllers with their ATC licence. In considering whether to issue a new ATC licence , CASA will consider the applicants' prior aviation history. In particular CASA will consider whether it has had cause to reject an application for initial issue or suspend or cancel any licence or certificate issued by it (or its delegate - eg Airservices Australia). If CASA (or its delegate). has taken any such action against you we strongly encourage you to speak to CASA in this regard prior you lodging your on-line application. Position locations Whilst it is a condition of employment as an ATC with Airservices that you be available to be located anywhere , realistically you can expect the following. We ask that candidates specify a preference for location. The choices are , Enroute in Brisbane or Melbourne. This has an effect on your location subsequent to training. For example , if you were to select Brisbane Enroute - you would be considered for a position based at Brisbane Centre (after training initially for approximately 12 months in Melbourne). Likewise for Melbourne Enroute , your career would be at Melbourne Centre.
